Take Part in the National Day of Action in Honor of International Day of the Girl on Oct. 11th!

9/23/16

On October 11th, we celebrate International Day of the Girl, to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.  This year we are asking you, our committed advocate, to organize a small group discussions in your community, using the short film Let Me In, to raise awareness of the needs of displaced women and girls around the world.  And sign and share a petition to the future President to make sure that their voices are heard.

Today, there are more than 100 million people in need of humanitarian assistance around the world – many of whom are women and girls.  When crisis strikes, women tend to be the last to eat, find safety or receive important health services.  Crisis often compounds their already existing troubles, such as violence and discrimination.  What’s more, their voices are often the last to be heard even when their perspectives are greatly needed to support their families and communities in the face of crisis.

The voices of displaced women and girls must not only be heard, but concrete actions must be taken to show that their concerns and recommendations, as well as the potential they bring to be part of the solution, are reflected in U.S. policies and funding. We hope you add your voice to this important movement – organize a discussion in your community and urge your network to sign the petition to the future President.

We’ve developed some tools to help you plan your event and lead a discussion:
