Take Action Tuesday - November 28, 2017

It’s Take Action Tuesday and we’re honoring work to combat violence against women – an issue that finally has the world’s attention.

CARE and CARE Action are joining hundreds of organizations and dozens of countries for 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. From November 25th to December 10th, we’re coming together and dialing up the volume on the critical and essential conversations everyone is having right now about gender-based violence (GBV) and all forms of violence against women, including child marriage, sexual assault, and harassment in the work place. We’re amplifying women’s stories about trauma and resilience and we’re having hard conversations that we know will lead to real solutions for women all over the world.

We’re also taking advantage of the fact that the holiday season is a time when people are searching for meaningful connections and ways to make a difference that’ll last beyond the turkey, candlelight and tinsel. People are looking at the world-at-large and the year we’ve been through and deciding how to make next year better. Frankly, we can’t think of a better way to do that than to eradicate GBV in all its forms. The International Violence Against Women Act (S. 2120), which was introduced this month, goes a long way toward meeting that goal. For Take Action Tuesday this week, we want you to help us meet it.

Here’s what you can do for Take Action Tuesday this week if you have:

  • 2 minutes: Sign the Petition to Congress asking them to pass the International Violence Against Women Act.
  • 5 minutes: Go that extra step and call your Senators to tell them that you’re a CARE supporter and their constituent and you want them to support and pass the International Violence Against Women Act (S. 2120).
  • 45 minutes: Listen to our latest podcast episode - Gender-Based Violence, IVAWA and Claudine’s work with CARE – and share it on social media. Tag your friends and invite them to join the conversation.
