Listen: Amplifying Women's Economic Empowerment

Listen: Amplifying Women's Economic Empowerment

CARE focuses on empowering women and girls in developing countries because we know it’s the most effective and sustainable way to eradicate poverty. But what exactly does it mean to empower women economically? That’s what we’re talking about on this week’s episode of the CARE Action podcast.

We sat down with Gayatri Patel, CARE’s Gender Empowerment policy advocate, to talk through what women’s empowerment looks like in CARE’s programming and how increasing women’s access to economic resources can not only strengthen herself and her family, but lift entire communities out of poverty. We also discuss the bipartisan Women's Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment Act of 2018 [H. R. 548] and what advocates can do to ensure it passes.  Women’s economic empowerment will be a key focus during this year’s Amplify Your Voice campaign to dial up CARE advocates’ voices in their home states and districts by scheduling meetings with Members of Congress during summer recess.

Give the episode a listen, share it with your friends on social media and help CARE advocate for women’s economic empowerment around the world this summer.
