CARE Vote Recommendations for House Foreign Assistance Budget

CARE Vote Recommendations for House Foreign Assistance Budget

Today the House begins debate on the foreign assistance budget -- including several amendments that could help or harm vulnerable communities around the globe.

CARE calls on Congress to sustain current FY17 levels of funding for the International Affairs Account and calls on the House to avoid any further cuts to overall SFOPs funding, which has already been disproportionately reduced by 17% in the current House bill. CARE asks that Members support poverty-focused foreign assistance accounts that enhance our national security by addressing issues of extreme poverty, instability and needed relief around the world.

CARE also encourages Members of the House of Representatives to follow these vote recommendations when casting amendment votes this week.

It's not too late for CARE Action advocates to call your Representative and urge them to follow CARE's voter amendment guide. Please call 202-335-0509 right now and tell your Represenative #DontCutLives.

Your voice has brought us this far. Now, we need to keep pushing to defeat these amendments before the House vote. Even if you’ve already called, we need you to call again and amplify our message!

Tell your Representative you're counting on them to vote against ANY amendment that would cut foreign assistance but put lives at risk.

Thanks for making your voice heard.
